Pulis relishing ‘fantastic experience’ as Baggies prepare for Asia tournament
West Brom manager Tony Pulis is counting down the days until he takes his side to the other side of the world for the Premier League Asia Trophy this summer.
The Baggies will be joined by Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Leicester City in the tournament, which will take place at the Hong Kong Stadium from July 19 to 22.
It is the first time the biennial tournament will feature four top-flight clubs, and will mark West Brom’s return to the continent 39 years after they became the first English team to tour China.
Fixtures for the tournament, the eighth of its kind, will be released early next month, and Pulis can’t wait to see what Asia has to offer.
“It will be a fantastic experience for everybody connected to the football club,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to play out there in what is becoming one of the fastest growing markets in the world for professional football.
“I’m delighted and the players are looking forward to it as well.
“They’re very, very passionate about football in Asia, they’re very passionate about the Premier League.
“I’m sure we’ll get a great reception and everybody will enjoy it as they will be good games.”
