Bellerin pleased with Arsenal’s new-look system
Arsenal’s Spanish defender Hector Bellerin hailed the Gunners’ new-look back-line after Arsene Wenger’s men produced their best performance of the season to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley and lift the FA Cup.
Bellerin experienced an indifferent season for Arsenal, losing form and fitness after Christmas as the Gunners’ season imploded in spectacular fashion and their Premier League title charge ended as a result.
Fast forward six months and Bellerin was back to his best in the cup final against Chelsea, winning his place back in the side in the final few weeks of the season and shackling Eden Hazard at Wembley when it mattered most.
The Spain international has now won two FA Cups in three seasons for the Gunners and admits he’s loving life with the Gunners.
“It feels really good – we knew we had to win this game,” Bellerin said. “We gave everything in every single moment of the game.
“I’m really proud of the boys for the work we’ve done throughout the whole year. It’s beautiful to go on our break with another FA Cup.
“We knew their game, we knew they were going to go on the counter-attack but we were really confident in our new system. We knew we could play the ball.
“The team got in between the lines really well. We kept the ball really well and we even should have scored more goals than we did because we hit the post a few times.
“At some points I was a bit worried that could have cost us the game but it was a good reaction to 1-1 from Oli (Olivier Giroud) and Rambo (Aaron Ramsey). It’s a beautiful feeling.”
