Vardy top of Everton’s transfer list as potential Lukaku replacement
With Romelu Lukaku’s future uncertain at Goodison Park, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is reportedly top of Everton’s shopping list this summer.
The City striker notched up 15 goals in all competitions last season after a difficult start to the campaign.
The Foxes forward is now said to be high on Ronald Koeman’s agenda, with Lukaku wanting a move away from the Toffees.
Everton director of football Steve Walsh was head of recruitment at Leicester when the club signed Vardy for £1million from Fleetwood Town five years ago and could help persuade the England forward to make the switch to Merseyside.
Vardy was close to a £20million move to Arsenal last summer after helping guide the Foxes to an unlikely Premier League triumph.
But the striker opted to stay at the former champions and earlier this month hinted that his future lies at the King Power Stadium.
“It’s football – anything can happen,” said the England international.
“It’s down to the club and the individuals themselves if offers are made for them or if they want to go.
“But if you look around the lads, the vast majority of them definitely still want to be here and progress how we want to.”
