Ex-Crystal Palace chairman questions Dyche link

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan doesn’t believe that Sean Dyche is the right man for his old club.

Palace are currently in the hunt for a new manager following Sam Allardyce’s shock resignation in May and Burnley boss Dyche has been heavily linked with the now-vacant Selhurst Park hotseat.

However, Jordan, who purchased Palace in 2000 before departing in 2010 when the club fell into administration, reckons that Dyche may not be “the right fit” for Palace.

Speaking to talkSport on Monday morning, Jordan said: “I think certain managers do well at certain clubs.

“Eddie Howe has done very well at Bournemouth but when he went away to Burnley, he didn’t do so well.

“I think Alan Curbishley is another example at Charlton.

“I am not sure Sean Dyche is the right fit for Palace, although I suspect he may stay at Burnley.

“I think it is a difficult one, but Palace have got time and that is the beauty of the situation they are in – they have got time to consider.”

Dyche has been Burnley manager since October 2012 and lead the Clarets to a 16th-placed finish in the Premier League this term – a point behind Palace, who were 14th.
