Mauro Zarate steps up recovery after cruciate injury
Watford star Mauro Zarate has stepped up his recovery after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury at the end of February.
The Argentine picked up the injury against his former employees West Ham United in a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
The typical recovery period for a cruciate ligament injury is around six months, and that’s normally before a player starts training.
But the attacking midfielder has taken to Instagram to show how quickly he has come along since the injury just four months ago.
In the short clip, Zarate can be seen doing a series of drills round cones and obstacles without any sign of injury.
Zarate joined Watford in January from Fiorentina and made just three appearances before suffering the injury against the Hammers.
The video is titled “little steps being made” and shows the rapid recovery Zarate is currently making.
The clip is reminiscent of the recent footage published by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who suffered the same injury.
The striker underwent knee surgery a month ago in America but has already been filmed kicking a football again.
Ibrahimovic, who has just been released by Manchester United after one season at the club, posted on Instagram: “The touch will never disappear. Lions don’t recover like humans.”
