Noble wants Hammers to splash the cash
Mark Noble has urged West Ham United to dive feet first into the transfer market as players get ready to head back for pre-season training.
The Hammers have already snapped up Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer and are linked with plenty of others – including Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
But with few deals seemingly in the pipeline, it is threatening to become a frustrating summer for Slaven Bilic’s men – who have also rumoured to be chasing Man City keeper Joe Hart and striker Kelechi Iheanacho.
After moving to the London Stadium last season, West Ham struggled and eventually limped home to 11th place – just five points clear of 17th-placed Watford.
That has left them scrapping with other mid-table sides to sign players, but midfielder Noble, a key cog in Bilic’s side, wants to see progress.
“I think we need to get a few in. I’m sure the chairman is working tirelessly to get them in but this market is so hard,” he said.
“Players are so expensive now and you get priced out. We’re competing with so many other teams to get the players we want.”
West Ham start the new season away at Manchester United and will not play a home match until September due to the World Athletics Championships taking place in the London Stadium.
