Retirement not an option for Stoke striker Crouch
Last season saw Peter Crouch hit 100 goals in the Premier League, but the Stoke City striker feels he still maintains his hunger to find the back of the net.
Crouch will start the next campaign aged 36 but, despite his current contract ending in July 2018, believes there is still more to come from his time at the top.
That target is one he hopes comes in the Potteries, with his 54 goals for Stoke more than his accumulation for any other club, including ten as he top-scored last season.
If all goes to plan, the former Portsmouth, Spurs and Liverpool striker will amass 200 career goals next season too, though it’s the enjoyment rather than the personal targets that he feels fuels his appetite for top-flight matches.
“Getting to a certain age where people are supposed to be retiring has made me hungrier,” said Crouch, who has the proud record of scoring the most headers in the Premier League era.
“I want to stay around for a lot longer yet. I love what I do.
“Coming in every day and playing football, then having a match at the end of it all, to work towards, is something that I’ve always loved and still want to do.”
