Leicester City – Three Young Guns

It was not a surprise when Leicester City failed to replicate their miraculous 2015/16 season last year but their extra fixtures did allow them to give more appearances to some of their younger players.

And there were positives signs from the likes of Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray as they were given opportunities to impress under Claudio Ranieri and Craig Shakespeare.

The pair are currently away with England Under-21s and are joined in our trio of ones to watch for the next season with Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi who joined the Foxes in January.

Wilfred Ndidi

The central midfielder was brought in from Genk in January as Leicester once again tried to find a replacement to N’Golo Kante after he joined Chelsea.

And the 20-year-old Nigerian appears to fit the bill with his partnership with Danny Drinkwater quickly blossoming in the centre of the Foxes midfield.

He made 17 appearances for Leicester in the Premier League scoring twice and earning seven wins with Foxes fans hoping for plenty more in the coming season.

Demarai Gray

The 20-year-old winger won plenty of fans during his time at Birmingham City and big things were expected when he joined Leicester City for around £4m.

But with Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton so strong as the Foxes won the Premier League with Gray being limited to just 12 appearances.

He made 30 in the season just gone, including a wonder-strike against Manchester United, and is hoping to have a big impact with England Under-21s this summer.

Ben Chilwell

Like Gray, the young left-back found chances difficult to come by with Christian Fuchs being a key part of the Leicester City defence in recent seasons.

But the 20-year-old has impressed when he has been given a chance and appears to be much happier getting forward than his Austrian clubmate.

He managed 12 appearances during the 2016/17 season and will be optimistic for more next year under Shakespeare, especially if he continues to impress with the England Under-21s.
