Robert Pires throws his belief behind Arsenal manager

Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has backed Arsene Wenger to win more silverware next season.
Having won a Premier League title and three FA Cups with the Gunners during his seven-year playing stint at the North London club, Pires certainly knows what it takes to win trophies.
And the Frenchman insists this is a vital time for Wenger to build on his squad ahead of the new season, after the manager signed a new two-year contract in May.
“This summer for Arsene Wenger is very important,” Pires said.
“He needs to try and extend the contracts of Alexis [Sanchez] and Mesut Ozil. This is the first thing, and after of course you need to sign new players.
“I believe in Arsene Wenger, I believe in the squad, I believe in the young players like Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin.
“When I see the name on the paper or the squad, it’s very good.”

And Pires – a member of Arsenal’s 2003-04 ‘Invicibles’ title-winning team who is now a coach under Wenger – believes the squad have no option but to adopt a new approach throughout the 2017-18 campaign.
“Everything has changed because we’re not playing in the Champions League, but we must focus and look forward to the new season,” he added.
“The most important thing is to win the Premier League, for him, the players and the fans.”
