New Terriers signing Malone: Premier League football a big attraction
New Huddersfield Town signing Scott Malone insists the opportunity to play Premier League football was one he could never afford to turn down.
Malone penned a three-year contract with the Terriers this week after missing out on promotion with Fulham.
The 26-year-old left-back was named in both the EFL and PFA’s Championship teams of the year last season following his performances for the Cottagers and he also scored at the John Smith’s Stadium against Town for his former club.
And while he still had a year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, Malone admits he couldn’t resist a move into the top flight.
“A lot of things attracted me [to Huddersfield] – Premier League football, the manager and the job he did getting them out of the Championship last summer”, said Malone
“Their style of play, as well; it’s very similar to what I have come from at Fulham. That will suit me down to the ground.
“It’s going to be harder in the Premier League than it was in the Championship but I think it’s going to help me fit in quickly and easily.
“This style of play is important to my game in that I am an attacking full-back, but now that we’re in the Premier League, we’re going to have to do a lot more defending!
“I’m really looking forward to it.”
