Manchester United teen savours reunion with former manager
Manchester United youngster Regan Poole says that Justin Edinburgh has been a huge influence on his career so far – therefore, he jumped at the chance to reunite with his former boss.
Poole, 19, has joined League One Northampton Town on loan for the season, meaning that he will spend the next 10 months or so under the tutelage of the man that gave him his senior debut as a 16-year-old at Newport County in 2014.
The Wales U21 international defender made his solitary senior United appearance to date when he came off the bench in a Europa League round of 32 tie against FC Midtjylland in February 2016.
Now, the former Newport man is aiming to gain a wealth of first-team experience under his old mentor at Northampton.
“Justin Edinburgh had a huge part to play in [my loan],” said Poole, who also played 17 times for Newport.
“Him and my agent were in contact anyway but when I was at Newport, I knew we would reunite again because we got on so well, and to be honest, he got me where I am today.
“He has played a big part in my career so far – hopefully he can do it again.”
