Lejeune gives Magpies boss Benitez options
Florian Lejeune has hinted that Newcastle could mix up their formation next season having signed from Eibar.
The 26-year-old joins the Magpies after a season with Eibar having previously played for two seasons for Girona.
The versatile defender will boost Rafa Benitez’s stocks at the back giving him the option of playing with a back three or a back four.
He will also fulfil a dream of playing in the Premier League, denied to him during a spell at Manchester City when he didn’t play a game and was immediately sent out on-loan.
Lejeune said: “My favourite position is in the middle of defence, whether that’s part of a two or a three.
“It’s always been a dream to play Premier League.
“I have played in Spain and France, and everyone was telling me that the English league was very important and very intense.
“I really wanted to come and play here, and hopefully I will be able to prove that I am worth it.
“It’s over, what happened with Man City is over. I want to concentrate on things here.
“I have nothing to prove to them – I only have things to prove to the fans here.
“I will work and work to prove I am worthy of this move.”
