Ranieri: Vardy will never stop scoring

Vardy has hardly endured a goal drought, but after failing to score in the opening two league games of the season, there were whispers that his poacher’s instinct had faded.

Not so for Ranieri; the Tinkerman watched on as Vardy scored with a trademark finish that guided the defending champions to their first Premier League win of the season.

And the 64-year-old was full of praise for his work ethic and natural ability.

“I am not worried, because Jamie is very focused,” Ranieri said. “The goalscorer will always score a goal.

“Of course, some seasons, it is a little more and some a little less but never, never the goalscorer forget the way to goal.

“Of course it is important to score a goal for the strikers, because it is their life.

“For me the most important thing was the performance and Jamie pressed a lot with his team-mates.

“In the end it was a tough match. The rain was unbelievable. It was like water polo. We had to score a little, one more goal in the first half perhaps, but it is good.”
