Okaka relishing second chance in Premier League

New Watford signing Stefano Okaka insists he has learned from his previous Premier League experience.

Okara played 11 games on loan for Fulham in 2010 before a series of loan moves to Bari, Palma and Spezia.

And, following a season at Sampdoria and a year at Andelecht, Okara. 27, is ready to lay down some roots at Vicarage Road.

“I was very young when I was at Fulham,” he said.

“I came to England then with just my talent. Now I come to England with talent and with my head. A lot changes in six years.

“Now I want to play, to enjoy, to help my team-mates to win for this club. My job is to score and play well for the team. I work hard every day in my career, so I’ll work hard now and then we will see.”

Okara, who made the first of his four appearances for Italy against Albania two years ago, has signed a five-year deal.

And he hopes to inspire Watford to their first Premier League win, following home defeats by Chelsea and Arsenal and a draw at Southampton.

“The club has fantastic potential, hopefully now we can do better than last year,” he added.

“I’m very happy to work with the Pozzo family and Walter Mazzarri, and I’m happy to be back in the Premier League.

“I know Watford is a family club, this is the first feeling I had when I arrived at the training ground. Everything is simple and I like that.”
