Oscar wants to add his name to list of Chelsea legends
Brazilian midfielder Oscar is determined to keep on creating history at Chelsea, and the 24-year-old admits he is still using a couple of Chelsea legends as his inspiration.
Since arriving from Internacional in 2012, Oscar has gone on to lift the Premier League, League Cup, and Europa League trophies with the Blues.
But given the vast success the club has enjoyed in recent years, Oscar is determined to replicate Stamford Bridge icons Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba – who are currently winding down their careers in Major League Soccer – and win titles year after year for the club.
And the Brazil international, who has started all three of Chelsea’s Premier League matches so far under new manager Antonio Conte, admits that motivation comes from something as simple as the number on his back.
“Didier Drogba is one of the players I always watched,” he said. “I enjoyed watching him play. Frank Lampard too, they were the players I admired watching.
“When I arrived I took the No.11 shirt from Drogba, who is an historic player at the club.
“Now I wear the shirt Lampard used to wear and I want to represent that number in a fitting way — by staying for a number of years and winning many trophies like he did.”
