Mings grateful for injury experience

Tyrone Mings’ debut season in the Premier League season was robbed by injury – but the Bournemouth youngster insists he would not change his experiences for the world.

The Cherries splashed out a reported £8m to whisk away the 6ft 5 defender from Ipswich, but just six minutes into his competitive debut against Leicester City he suffered a season-ending knee injury.

It was only last week that he made his return in a friendly with AC Milan, and the 23-year-old passed the test with flying colours.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is reluctant to rush him back into Premier League action however, which means the clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend may come too soon for his comeback.

But Mings says he is in a happy place after coming to terms with his lot over the last year.

“I have learnt a lot mentally and physically, I’m probably in a better place,” he said.

“It’s nice to be back in the fold, back playing and injury-free.

“There was a lot of two steps forward one step back throughout the process, but I would not change it for the world and for the experience I’m probably a better person for it.”
