Mustafi tips new Gunner Perez to shine

Arsenal newboy Lucas Perez has all of the ingredients to be a huge success at the Emirates this season, according to fellow Gunner Shkodran Mustafi.

Perez and Mustafi both completed big-money moves to the Premier League on transfer deadline day – bolstering Arsene Wenger’s squad for a tilt at the Premier League title this year.

Mustafi, who moved to North London from Spanish side Valencia, has firsthand experience of facing his new Arsenal colleague – with Perez having played for Deportivo de La Coruna last season.

And the German international has described Perez as ‘uncomfortable’ for defenders to play against, due to his barnstorming all-action displays.

The two new signings faced each other in La Liga last season, with Lucas scoring twice for Deportivo against Valencia.

“He is uncomfortable to play against,” Mustafi said. “He’s a good striker – he has everything a striker needs.

“He’s someone you can play well with. He doesn’t just run around and wait for someone to give him a pass to score a goal. He works a lot for the team as well and he creates chances.

“He’s in the right place at the right time, as he showed last year in La Liga. I played there for two years and I know it’s not that easy to score many goals in La Liga, because you have great defenders there as well.

“I think he’s going to help the team a lot.”
