Davis insists Southampton will return to winning ways soon

Southampton are still searching for their first victory in the Premier League this season though according to midfielder Steven Davis, panic buttons are not being pressed at St Mary’s.

If a defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford was no surprise, most concerning to Saints fans are the draws at home to Sunderland and Watford – two teams expected to be involved in the relegation dogfight this year.

With an away trip to Arsenal up next, the hunt for a win may go on but Davis insists his side will undoubtedly warm up once the campaign is in full flow.

“There’s always a bit of frustration because you want to get three points as soon as possible and a win as soon as you can, but unfortunately we haven’t managed to do that just yet,” he said.

“We’re not getting down about that, it’s early on in the season. There’s been a lot of changes again which disrupted pre-season a bit I suppose with the players coming back from the Euros and then the players going off again after three games in.

“So it’s been tough to get time on the training pitch, but I think we’ll only get better as the season goes on.”
