Keane hails mentor Dyche

Michael Keane might be on the cusp of an England call-up, but the centre-half admits he is still getting used to the Premier League and relies on manager Sean Dyche to teach him a thing or two.

The 23-year-old impressed as the Clarets beat Liverpool last month, but they went on to lose their next two games and sit in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Dyche played centre-back for the likes of Chesterfield, Millwall and Watford in an 18-year career, and Keane says he has played a big part in his development.

“In training he is always encouraging and when you do good things in training he lets you know,” he said.

“Also, if you do things wrong he will take you into his office now and again and show you a few clips of how to do things better and just the confidence he has in us makes us play better.

“I am still young myself. I need to still learn the game and he was a centre-half so he has got a lot he can offer me and he has done in the two years I have been here.

“I am sure I will be in there a few more times.”

And Keane insists Burnley can survive this season and points to a strong sense of togetherness which can see them through.

“I think you can see we are very organised, even the strikers help out. Obviously we have got the quality to score goals from set-plays and I think we can cause team s problems,” he added.

“The whole feel of the place all the time is always good and if you are in a bad mood it lifts you so it is a great place to be.”
