Zieler ready and raring to go for Leicester City
The life of a substitute goalkeeper is not much fun, but Leicester City’s Ron-Robert Zieler insists he is of the mentality that he should always be ready to play.
Kasper Schmeichel is the Foxes’ undisputed No.1 having been an ever-present in last season’s title win.
When Zieler agreed to a £2.6million move in the summer from German club Hannover 96 he would have done so knowing he was unlikely to dislodge Schmeichel from between the sticks.
But, rather than make himself comfy on the King Power bench, Zieler was perched on the edge of his seat and called into action against Swansea City 57 minutes into last week’s Premier League match.

And the 27-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United, has assured manager Claudio Ranieri he will always be ready for action.
Zieler said: “It’s a different situation than starting a game, but as a goalkeeper you have to be ready, even if you know the possibility to come is very small.
“I always make sure I’m ready.
“It was a great feeling to make my first Premier League appearance in front of the home fans.
“It was a fantastic day for me and I will always keep it in my good memories.”
