Gibson: Boro will need to learn on the job

Ben Gibson has warned his Middlesbrough teammates that they need to learn their lessons this Premier League season or they risk flunking the biggest test of all – survival.

Boro have made a strong start to the Premier League campaign and were unbeaten after three rounds before defeat against Crystal Palace last time out.

In a new-look Premier League awash with TV money, there are no easy games for Aitor Karanka’s newly-promoted side.

And Gibson admits he and his teammates have found that out the hard way.

“We’ve got to learn from [the Palace game] and move on,” he said.

“Every game this season is going to be a test, we’re playing against some of the best teams in the world.

“You have seen the finances of the Premier League – everyone is going to be well-equipped.

“Crystal Palace had a striker who cost £30 million – that’s the norm now.

“We’ve got to get used to this level and get used to it quickly.”
