Diomande’s Premier League dreams in sight
Adama Diomande’s dreams could be about to come true after his superb pre-season form has fired him into starting contention for Premier League newboys Hull City Tigers.
The Norwegian front-man, who signed from Stabaek for £1.7m last September, scored just three times in the Championship last season, but has already matched that tally in Hull’s last two pre-season games.
As the Tigers recuperate from Steve Bruce’s departure and with Abel Hernandez Hull’s only other senior forward available, Diomande has been busy capitalising on his chance to hit the big-time.
“I’m looking forward to getting my opportunity in the top league,” the 26-year-old said.
“I’m working on my match fitness and we have just under two weeks now until the Premier League season starts.
“We have players here who can do a great job and hopefully we get some more players in the next two weeks. We will stay positive.”

With caretaker manager Mike Phelan and his squad heading out to Austria for their remaining pre-season fixtures against Çaykur Rizespor and Torino, Diomande is happy to keep turning up and banging them in.
He said: “Saturday was a good result for us and we are now thinking about the trip to Austria for two more games. We will keep going and working hard.
“We’re just waiting for the new manager and to see what happens next. I’m not the guy that decides but hopefully the new manager will come in the next week.
“We’re a positive group and we’re just taking pre-season day by day and seeing what happens.”
