Watford firepower inspires Deeney
Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo may have been one of the most deadly Premier League strike partnerships last season, but the Watford skipper insists they need to find the net regularly this year or face the axe.
The Hornets have made an impressive start to the new campaign, with victories over West ham United and Manchester United catapulting them into the top half of the table.
Deeney and Igahlo have four goals between them already, but they have a lot to live up to after last season – when Deeney netted 13 times and Igahlo 15.
New Watford boss Walter Mazzarri signed Isaac Success and Stefano Okaka in the summer window, and Deeney says he feels the pressure to find the net.
“Obviously we have had two new lads in. It has given us a little kick up the backside to make sure we don’t go too long without scoring,” he said.

“Last year I went ten games until scoring [at the start of the season]. Now I am two in five which is a lot better than last year.
“Me and Iggy (Ighalo), we are always going to be a partnership but we have got to make sure we keep scoring goals. If we don’t there are two new lads that will come in and take our job.”
