Henriksen desperate to impress at Hull City

New signing Markus Henriksen is keen to show the Hull City fans that he ticks all the boxes required for Premier League football.

The 24-year-old Norwegian, who has 28 caps for his country, signed from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar on a season-long loan that will become a permanent deal automatically in January.

And he marked his arrival in style on Wednesday night with a last-minute winner for caretaker boss Mike Phelan’s side against Stoke City in the EFL Cup.

Henriksen admitted that he is aware of the challenges facing him in English football, but believes he has what it takes to be successful for the Tigers.

“I knew it was a step up but that’s why I wanted to come here. I believe I am a good enough player for the Premier League,” he said.

“I think I am a midfielder who likes to score goals and likes to have assists and today I got one of both. It feels good, gives me confidence and shows also that I can help the team.”

Hull City travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday without a win in their last three games after kicking off their season with victories over Leicester City and Swansea City.
