Calvert-Lewin tipped for Premier League stardom at Everton
Everton paid Sheffield United £500,000 for highly-rated teenager Dominic Calvert-Lewin on transfer deadline day and with the fee potentially reaching £1.5m, David Unsworth thinks that is money well spent.
Calvert-Lewin impressed at the Blades’ academy and, after signing a four-year deal at Goodison, scored his first Toffees goal in their Under-23’s 2-0 win over Manchester United on Monday.
Everton had to fight to get the striker’s signature, with their initial approach being rejected and interest also expressed from those at Old Trafford.
And Unsworth, now a coach at Goodison Park, said the 19-year-old has the all the qualities to make it in the first team.

“He’s got a bit of everything,” said Unsworth.
“Throwback is not the right word but he is so good in the air and certainly for young players these days it’s a rarity that someone who is so athletic is as game in the air as him.
“He hasn’t just got one facet to his game, he is quick, he can go in behind, he can hold it up, he is good in the air and by no means am I saying he is the complete striker – he is a young boy, learning his trade – but there is an awful lot of potential to work with.
“I would not have brought him to the football club if I didn’t think he had the ability and the talent, along with his great attitude, to make it at the very top.”
