Tottenham’s Alderweireld and Vertonghen are Premier League’s best, says Carter-Vickers
Cameron Carter-Vickers is the next Spurs starlet off the production line and the centre-back believes he has the top two teachers in the Premier League.
Carter-Vickers made his first-team debut in the EFL Cup third round defeat of Gillingham earlier this month and, on Thursday, put pen to paper on a new contract set to run until 2019.
Described by his manager Mauricio Pochettino as a “beast”, the 18-year-old certainly looks the part.
The challenge for Carter-Vickers is now to refine the technical side of his game.
And he believes having Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen to learn from can only aid his development.

“In my opinion, we’ve two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League right here and to be able to train with them every day and watch them play, I can only learn from that,” he said.
“I like them on the ball, they are always very calm, defensively they cover each other so well and they always look assured. They both give me advice and they’ve helped me a lot.
“I just want to push on, work hard in training, improve my game and hopefully I’ll get more playing time.
“The more I play, the more confident and better I’ll get.”
