Alli forgets Kane celebration in Spurs win over City
After scoring the goal that secured Tottenham Hotspur an impressive win over Manchester City on Sunday, Dele Alli forgot his planned celebration
If he scored, Alli was planning a celebration for his injured colleague Harry Kane, but the 20-year-old said the emotion of the moment got to him and the pre-determined celebration slipped his mind.
Kane limped off after scoring the winner for Spurs against Sunderland last weekend, and the striker does not know when he will return – although an initial scan last week showed the ankle ligament damage was not as bad as first feared.
Alli apologised for his oversight, though, and hopes he will have another opportunity to dedicate a goal to his team-mate.
“I said I’d do one [a celebration] for ‘H’ after he was injured but emotions took over and I couldn’t control myself,” he said. “Sorry for that Harry.”

The win means Spurs head into the international break second in the Premier League, second in their Champions League group and in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
And Alli feels that while the win over previously unbeaten City is an illustration of what his side are capable of, they mustn’t get ahead of themselves.
“We knew what we were capable of before kick-off and it was just about showing everyone that we’re here, that we’re fighting,” he added.
“It’s important that we don’t get carried away with ourselves and focus on the next game, as we have been doing, just look at each game and try and get three points.”
