Moss: Bournemouth’s Boruc should be in Poland reckoning
Goalkeeping coach Neil Moss has tipped his cap to Bournemouth stopper Artur Boruc, who he believes is the in-form man between the sticks in the Premier League.
The 36-year-old from Poland has been No.1 at the Vitality Stadium since his loan move from Southampton in 2014, which was made permanent the following summer.
Boruc has been an ever-present for the Cherries again this season, playing in every one of their Premier League fixtures and keeping clean sheets against West Brom and Everton.
And despite his age, Moss is surprised Boruc finds himself below Łukasz Fabiański and Wojciech Szczęsny in the international pecking order.
“Artur’s had a great start to the season,” he said. “He came back after the Euros and didn’t have much of a break.
“He met us in Chicago [on the Cherries’ pre-season trip] and his attitude to his training has been excellent.
“He still has ambitions. He wants to be playing for Poland and to be seen as a top Premier League goalkeeper and, at the moment, you’d be hard pushed to see anyone who’s playing better in goal in the Premier League than him.
“I am surprised [he is not in the Poland side] because he’s been the form goalkeeper this season in the Premier League.
“Poland are very strong goalkeeping-wise. I really like Fabianski as a keeper – and they have Szczesny as well.
“They also have a couple of youngsters coming through, so they’re certainly doing something right because they have some excellent goalkeepers and Artur is one of them.”
