Red Devils star Rashford reveals his dream goal
There’s nothing quite like scoring against your bitter rivals and Marcus Rashford would certainly agree – stating that an effort against Manchester City at Old Trafford would be his ‘dream goal’.
Rashford has already had a number of fairytale moments in his young career – scoring twice on his United debut in the Europa League, netting in his first-ever Premier League game, grabbing the winner in his first Manchester derby and marking his maiden England appearance with a goal.
That Manchester derby winner against City came at the Etihad Stadium but the 18-year-old claims repeating that feat at the Theatre of Dreams would provide elation on a whole new level.
“My dream goal would be a home goal against City, definitely!” said Rashford. “Scoring away was a massive moment as well for me, so I can only imagine what a home goal would be like.”
Rashford’s effort against City in March of this year showed composure beyond his years as he demonstrated his lightning pace and skill to glide past defender Martin Demichelis before coolly slotting beyond goalkeeper Joe Hart.

And, unsurprisingly, the teenager has fond memories of the moment – which handed the Red Devils a 1-0 win.
“The game was quite an even one so it could have gone either way,” explained Rashford.
“We were attacking and then they were attacking. They had a bit more of the ball but they weren’t really threatening us.
“There were two times before when I got on a one-on-one with him [Martin Demichelis] and he just nicked the ball off me. I knew what I needed to do the next time I got the ball so I did it.
“Then I was against the keeper and it was just about relaxing, composing myself and that was what I did.
“After it went in, the fans were too far away but it was a good feeling with everyone coming towards you. To win the game 1-0 as well, to hold out as a team was a good feeling.”
