Rested Meyler ready for Premier League
Despite a truncated pre-season with Hull City, midfielder David Meyler has assured Tigers fans he will be fit and ready for the new Premier League season.
The 27-year-old took an extended break following his exertions with the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016 in June, but is now back in full training with newly-promoted Hull, and approaching peak fitness.
Meyler played the full 90 minutes in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Turkish opponents Caykur Rizespor, and is now looking ahead to Hull’s season opener against champions Leicester City in a week’s time.
“It is tough when you’re playing catch-up a little bit,” said Meyler.
“But I’m enjoying the challenge of that and having got 90 minutes on Wednesday I feel that I’m getting there.

“I’d say I’m probably at 90 per cent at the moment and with another game to come on Saturday and more training next week, I’ll be ready.
“Overall, I think we were all happy to get another good run-out on Wednesday and especially against a team that liked to try and keep the ball.
“We started a bit slowly but after the first 10 minutes we dominated the game.
“Our opponents came out to give us a big game but we got out of it what we needed to as we build towards the season opener against Leicester.”
