Nevin: Moses has finally found his place at Chelsea

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin insists Victor Moses is currently playing like a man possessed as he enjoys his best ever run in a Blues shirt.

A fans favourite at Stamford Bridge during the 1980s when he made almost 200 appearances at the club, Nevin admits the performances of Moses in recent weeks have taken him by surprise.

Playing on the right-hand side of midfield in Antonio Conte’s new 3-4-2-1 system, where he is utilised as an attacking wing-back, Nevin believes Moses may have now found a home at Chelsea.

And having been loaned out three times since his 2012 transfer from Wigan, Nevin admits the 25-year-old Nigerian will be desperate not to give up his place in the side.

“Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses were colossal [against Southampton] and for me Moses had his best game by far in a Chelsea shirt,” he said.

“So while many would have given man-of-the-match to Diego [Costa] or Eden [Hazard], I certainly would not have begrudged Victor getting the nod.

“His tackling was fantastic and bordering on the fanatical at times. No one got past him but he still managed to hammer up and down that right-hand side for most of the match like an Olympic 400-meter gold medallist.

“He was so powerful and dangerous in the last third when forcing a host of good saves from Fraser Forster, that the keeper’s hands are probably still stinging a couple of days later.

“Considering how hard it has been for him to break into the Chelsea team, or indeed even stay at the club, you understand his current desire.

“He has the air of a man who has been given a chance he never thought he would get, and by God he isn’t going to let it go.”
