Sullivan: Astra Giurgiu we’re coming for you!

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan says revenge is on the agenda when they take on Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League play-off round.

The Romanian side dumped the Hammers out of the same competition last season, winning the third qualifying round tie 4-3 on aggregate after Slaven Bilic’s team had led 2-0 at Upton Park.

Now they are one step away from reaching the Europa League group stage, following a 3-0 defeat of NK Domzale on Thursday night in their first-ever match to be staged at London Stadium.

And, with Astra Giurgiu in their way once again, Sullivan, who has owned the club along with David Gold since January 2010, has a clear message.

“We have unfinished business with them,” said the 67-year-old.

“They are the champions of Romania last season, so it won’t be an easy game.

“It’s not ideal as there is a lot of travelling and the away leg is before the vital home game against Bournemouth.”

The Hammers, European Cup Winners’ Cup winners in 1965 and runners-up in 1976, travel to Romania for the first leg on August 18, before the return in east London on August 25.
