Ledley and Hennessey’s bro-mance continues for Palace and Wales

Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey are the odd couple for club and country but the Wales midfielder insists the duo bring the best out of each other.

The two Welshmen both play for Crystal Palace but are currently on international duty with Chris Coleman’s side.

They share a room on club and country duty and have become key figures for a Wales side that made the semi-finals at Euro 2016.

“We’re a little bit hyper, me and Wayne, and if we were in a room amongst ourselves we’d be banging our heads against the walls,” Ledley said.

“We need each other to bounce off. I’ve known him since we were playing at Under-14s for Wales so we’re close and he’s great company.

“But I probably spend as much time sharing a bedroom with Wayne as I do with my wife!

“I don’t think either of our partners are too happy about it, I think there’s a bit of jealousy there!”

While Ledley has slotted straight back into the first team for Palace this season after the Euros, Hennessey has struggled for game time with Steve Mandanda preferred between the sticks.

However, Ledley is confident that the best is still to come for the Welsh keeper.

“He didn’t play much for Palace when he first signed and had to wait for his chance and took it,” Ledley added.

“He still put in fantastic performances for Wales and I’m sure it will be the same again.”
