Onomah takes inspiration from Spurs legend Berbatov
Dimitar Berbatov was the inspiration for Tottenham’s Joshua Onomah as a youngster – the 19-year-old has revealed.
The Spurs youngster has established himself as a regular fixture in the Spurs squad this season, having made his Premier League debut last term.
While Spurs spent some money over the summer, notably to bring in Vincent Janssen, Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama, Mauricio Pochettino has not been afraid to put his faith in youth.
And Onomah has been one of the main beneficiaries, featuring in five matches so far this campaign, including in the Champions League.
Now the teenager has revealed that it was Spurs legend Berbatov, who enjoyed two successful seasons at White Hart Lane, who was his first footballing hero.

He said: “The first time I properly met a professional footballer was Dimitar Berbatov – he came to my school when I was in year four.
“It was one of those football classes in PE where we were just messing about and he joined in with the session.
“I thought that was good from him and he gave us advice. That advice helped me, so I thank him for that.”
