Romeu thanks Saints fans after strong start to season
Oriol Romeu believes his burgeoning relationship with the Southampton fanbase has pushed him on to greater heights this season.
The former Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder has been a stand-out attraction for Claude Puel’s side this year.
The 25-year-old has now scooped the Saints fans’ player of the month awards for both September and October, with the Premier League side sitting in the top half of the table and recently scoring a famous European win over Inter.
And Romeu admits he is loving life on the south coast as the Saints go marching on.
“I am very happy, again,” said Romeu after receiving his latest trophy. “It’s something nice and enjoyable to have, and it means the fans are happy with me and the team.
“We are all enjoying it and feeling the love we are getting from them and we just want to keep them happy and have more and more wins.
“We are all feeling very good on the pitch, we feel warm and we feel the supporters are behind us. That is something very nice and very good to have and we want to keep this relationship and make it stronger.

“I’ve been happy and feeling every time a bit more confident and playing more and enjoying it.
“I just want to keep improving. The coach has given me games and minutes and I just want to prove to him I am ready to be there, to help the team and to do good performances.”
