Schubert ready to take on one of Europe’s elite in City
Manchester City are one of the top teams in Europe according to Borussia Monchengladbach manager Andre Schubert as he prepares to face Pep Guardiola’s team in the Champions League.
While City haven’t necessarily fired on all cylinders in the Premier League, and currently sit third – albeit just one behind leaders Chelsea – they stunned Barcelona last time out in Europe.
And according to Schubert that was no surprise, with Guardiola’s team among the best on the continent.
However, despite losing the first meeting between the sides 4-0 back in September, Schubert is confident he has learned from that heavy defeat.

“Man City showed what a good side they are in their last few games and their win against FC Barcelona wasn’t surprising. Because they are both amongst the top teams in Europe,” he said.
“City have a very good squad. They press very high from the first minute but we learned our lessons from our first game.
“It is an important game for us. Every competition is equally important and we will have to give it our all to have a chance of beating them.
“We want the boys to put on a good performance. After the disappointing loss against Cologne at the weekend, we have to try and build ourselves back up as a team.
“But the most important thing is the players keep their confidence.”
