New City striker Jesus prepared for Premier League test

Gabriel Jesus may be used to glorious sunshine all year round but the new Manchester City striker insists he is fully prepared for the cold English winter.

The 19-year-old signed for the Citizens in the summer but an agreement was reached for him to remain with Palmeiras until the end of the Brazilian domestic season.

Since then, Jesus has set tongues wagging in Manchester with a string of eye-catching displays – leading to an international call-up.

City boss Pep Guardiola has moved to temper expectations ahead of the forward’s arrival, but Jesus says he knows what to expect when he touches down.

“Everyone who has told me about Manchester tells me about the cold. Fernandinho in the Brazil squad said I’ll arrive in the coldest time they have there and it will be a bit difficult,” he said.

“But I will try to adapt myself as quickly as possible to understand the football there.”

City sit third in the Premier League table, just one point off table-toppers Chelsea, and  level on points with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Jesus is desperate to hit the ground running as soon as he arrives and help City win trophies in Guardiola’s first season.

“It’s a dream of mine, which is now becoming reality, to play in Europe,” he added. “I have to grab the opportunity and I cannot pass it up.”
