Sunderland’s Watmore hopes Jermain Defoe can help him with finishing
Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore hopes team-mate Jermain Defoe can pass on a few finishing tips after the Black Cats’ 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.
David Moyes’ side defended valiantly for more than 70 minutes before goals from Divock Origi and James Milner sealed a deserved win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Watmore had a golden chance to break the deadlock when put through on goal with the score still 0-0, but a heavy touch forced him wide, and the chance had gone.
Now, Watmore is looking to Defoe, who has racked up 150 Premier League goals, in order to fine tune his clinical touch in front of goal.

“It was a very good chance – we worked hard to get that chance and I’ve have loved to have scored it,” he said.
“But you have to make sure it doesn’t play on your mind, and instead concentrate on improving your own game so that next time you do take the chance when it comes along.
“When you’ve got someone like JD in the team, he’s not a bad person to learn from because finishing is his game.
“I definitely need to improve in that respect and that’s what we do on the training pitch.”
