Spurs legend King blends in with the crowd

Tottenham might have seen their unbeaten record ended at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but Spurs legend Ledley King insists that won’t stop him returning to watch them with the fans in future.

King joined the Tottenham faithful at Stamford Bridge as Mauricio Pochettino’s side slipped to their first defeat of the Premier League season – going down 2-1 to Chelsea.

It was his first game as mere spectator in decades, but despite the result, King said he loved the atmosphere.

“I really enjoyed the experience. It was strange, seeing it all from a different point of view,” said King.

“I went through the turnstiles at a stadium probably for the first time since I was about 18! I almost forgot how it all worked.

“As soon as I got into the concourses the fans started singing my name and my cover was blown.

“I was looking down and thinking back to all the times I’d run out at Stamford Bridge and remembering what it was like to be down there but you soon get caught up in it all from a fan’s perspective.

“It gives you a real insight. I’ve got friends who are fans and being able to see them in amongst it all, I don’t often get to see that.

“It’s a totally different experience and it was important for me to see a game that way. There was so much passion.

“I’ll be back in there again before too long.”
