New father Fulton has a weekend to remember with Swans

Jay Fulton could have been forgiven for having his mind on other things last weekend, after receiving news that his partner had gone into labour just before kick-off.

But the midfielder knuckled down and ensured he had a tale to tell his first-born Jenson when he grows up after helping Swansea to victory in a 5-4 thriller against Crystal Palace.

“Hectic is one way you could describe last weekend,” admitted Fulton. “My partner went into labour on Saturday just before I left for the match.

“I had my phone on me as much as I could, but then the kitman had it after that to keep an eye out for a phonecall.

“I obviously had to concentrate on the game, but straight after the match I was quickly heading back home to pick up Maxine and go to the hospital.

“Jenson was born at 6.15pm on Sunday night, so the weekend couldn’t have been any more perfect or me.”

It has been a superb season in more ways than one for the 22-year-old, having caught new manager Bob Bradley’s eye since the American’s arrival in October.

“It’s been great being involved in the last two games,” added Fulton.

“I train hard and do everything I can to earn a place in the team.

“When I get that opportunity, I know there’s no option other than to do the job I’m called upon to do.”
