Vardy: Leicester fans are non-stop

THE King Power Stadium was back to resembling last year’s noise and buoyancy on Saturday night and Jamie Vardy highlighted the impact on Leicester City’s performance.

Two goals inside the opening five minutes from Vardy and Foxes stalwart Andy King will have had a major impact on the fans’ moods with the England striker making it 3-0 after 20 minutes.

With Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side struggling with the pace of the Leicester counter, Vardy was full of praise for the atmosphere in the East Midlands.

“The fans are great. They’re non-stop with the singing and sometimes they’re the 12th man,” he said.

“When we need that extra bit of energy you get the fans shouting as loud as they can and it gives you a lift, it’s an unbelievable feeling.”

Vardy secured his hat-trick in the second half but two late goals from Aleksandar Kolarov and Nolito failed to take the gloss off the performance from last season’s Premier League champions.

“At the end of the day, I want the team to do well. The goals and everything come second so today, overall, it was a great team performance and for me to get a hat-trick is great,” Vardy added.

“First and foremost, we just wanted to make sure we were fighting and showed the spirit we showed for the most of last season.”
