Alli tips his cap to all-star full-backs
Dele Alli insists Spurs have two of the finest full-backs in the land, after Danny Rose and Kyle Walker were the catalysts for their three points last weekend.
The 20-year-old midfielder broke his goal drought in the come-from-behind 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday, hitting his first Premier League goal since mid-September from Walker’s cross to level arrears.
But Rose then stole the headlines after crashing home the second-half winner, and Alli insists that with the pair guarding the flanks behind them, Spurs can once again begin to challenge for Premier League glory in the second half of the season.
“[Danny] is a fantastic full-back – I don’t think there are many better in the Premier League,” he said. “He deserves everything he gets.
“They are two fantastic players and it’s a joy to play with them. They provide such pace and power down the flank and they defend so well as well, and that’s so important.
“It was a great assist from Kyle for the first goal and a great goal from Danny for the second.
“I hope to find some finishing form and start getting a few more goals. I need to beat my target from last season, so I have to make sure I put them away now.”
