We’ll take heart from battling display, says West Ham keeper Randolph
West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph says the team will take confidence from their battling display against Manchester United.
Slaven Bilic’s men were beaten 2-0 at the London Stadium on Monday, after goals from Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the visitors the victory.
West Ham had Sofiane Feghouli controversially dismissed after 15 minutes by referee Mike Dean after a tackle on Phil Jones.
The Hammers are 13th in the Premier League, seven points off the relegation zone, and host United’s neighbours Manchester City in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday.

And Randolph said his side fought hard against Jose Mourinho’s men, but were faced with a tough task after Feghouli’s red card.
“We had enough chances to get on the scoresheet and try and get something out of the game but it’s always tough when you go down to ten men in any game. Especially against them,” he said.
“From where I was, the sending off just looked like two bodies jumping into the tackle. I just thought the ref stopped the game because Phil Jones was injured. Then he showed the red card.
“We battled on for most of the game with ten men, still creating chances, so we take confidence from that.”
