Pulis says gap to the top six is bigger than ever
Tony Pulis admitted his players only had themselves to blame after Tottenham Hotspur put them to the sword in the early Saturday kick off.
The Baggies came into the clash sitting eighth in the Premier League table but Harry Kane ran riot in a 4-0 victory.
Kane – who became a father this week – bagged a hat-trick as Spurs climbed to second albeit only temporarily.
Everton in seventh are nine points behind Manchester United in sixth with the Baggies a further point behind.
And after seeing his side outclassed, Pulis admitted that his side are a long way off challenging the big boys.
“The top six in the Premier League this year, it could be the biggest gap ever to seventh, that’s how far ahead of the rest of us they are,” he said.
“Right from the start mentally we were not ready, and when you come to these big grounds you have to start well.

“We didn’t, I will take no credit away from Tottenham – they were very good at times but we were nowhere near what we can be and what we have been this season.
“We thought if we kept the ball well and got up the pitch we could have caused problems but we kept giving it away.”
