Karanka looking at wing options for Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has revealed he is looking to give his side a bit more pace on the flanks during the January transfer window.
Boro played out a goalless draw with Watford on Saturday, with Cristhian Stuani going closest for the visiting Teessiders.
The transfer rumour mill continues to churn out stories linking the Spaniard with moves for Stoke’s Bojan, PSG forward Jese Rodriguez, and Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass.
But Karanka was direct in stating which area Boro will be looking to strengthen in the approaching weeks.
“The aim, once again, is to finish the transfer window with a better squad,” Karanka said.
“I’m not here to talk about Snodgrass, Bojan, Jese or [Gerard] Deulofeu – the only thing I know is we brought Victor Orta in the summer and I’m more than pleased with him.
“We are in this position in the league because of the hard work done in the summer. Now, in this window, if you add something it is good but I don’t think a lot of clubs will be making moves.
“The position we need to strengthen is the wings. I think we need more pace, especially when we have the ball.
“We need more pace, especially when we have the ball, and we will try to bring in the best players possible.”
