Clucas: Hull City can cope with Snodgrass departure

Sam Clucas insists Hull City’s players will not be losing any sleep over the departure of Robert Snodgrass with the midfielder confident they have the talent to replace him.

Scotland international Snodgrass completed a £10.2million transfer to West Ham on Friday, following in the footsteps of Jake Livermore who also departed the club this month to move to West Brom.

But while Tigers fans might be alarmed at the departure of two such players, particularly with the club 19th in the Premier League, Clucas is not panicking.

Boss Marco Silva has already promised to bring in three or four more players before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Although Clucas believes those already arrived at the club, including Lazar Markovic and Oumar Niasse – on loan from Liverpool and Everton respectively – and Brazilian Evandro can deliver the goods.

“The team is not built around one player,” he said. “Snods has been brilliant for us and is top-scorer and created the most goals and is going to be a big miss, but the signings that the gaffer has made have made an impact.

“(Lazar) Markovic came on and Evandro came in and (Oumar) Niasse scored. We have players who are stepping in with quality.

“Niasse is a handful and a big lad and I think that is what we have been missing sometimes. He played well and deserved his goal. Hopefully, they can fill Snoddy’s boots, score some goals and create some chances like Snods did.”
