Huth: Leicester have been in this position before
They may know what it takes to become Premier League champions, but Leicester City also know exactly what is required to haul themselves out of a relegation dogfight, according to Robert Huth.
The 32-year-old German – who has made the most appearances by any German player in Premier League history – has spent his career at opposite ends of the top-flight table having played at Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Stoke City before arriving in the East Midlands.
But Huth insists that the rest of his teammates are in the same position after hauling themselves out of a relegation quagmire in 2015 before their unprecedented league success last term – meaning they know exactly how deep they will have to dig now they are in trouble again.
And with an ever-improving Manchester United side in town on Sunday afternoon, Huth is calling on the Foxes’ die-hard fans to give them the rapturous support that saw them defy the odds last season.
“The majority of the squad were here when we were at the bottom of the league [in 2014/15]. We do know how to deal with disappointment,” he said.
“When some people might think it’s the worst thing in the world, it’s up to us as professionals to think that we’ve been here before and we know what it takes.
“It’s almost like we have to shut out everyone and get on with the job.
“The fans got us over the line a few times last year with the home support. I think it’s better playing at home with the fans behind you and roaring you on, hopefully it will be the same against United.”
