Pochettino puts faith in Spurs core
Chelsea might look out of reach in the title race but Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes the future is bright at White Hart Lane, particularly with the number of players signing new contracts at the club.
Spurs have locked up the long-term futures of a number of players, including the likes of Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane as they look to build on last year’s third place in the Premier League.
And while many clubs are spending big on bringing players in, Pochettino is adamant that the key to Spurs’ future is to develop the talent they already have.

“The most important step is that the players believe they can achieve their dreams,” he said. “If you believe Tottenham is the right place to achieve your dreams, we will be very close to winning trophies.
“For me it’s the first time it’s happened, that in the last few months so many players have extended [their contracts] and shown their commitment. Maybe 80 per cent have shown that and want to be here long-term – it’s my first experience like this.
“When I look at different clubs it doesn’t happen, what’s happened here, which is very good news for us.”
