Klopp ready to expand Liverpool squad from ‘good base’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is confident he has a good base from which to build greater depth in his squad during this summer’s transfer window.
The Reds were beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round so are not in action this weekend, with Klopp taking his squad to Spain to prepare for the Premier League run-in.
Liverpool are fifth in the Premier League, a point behind Arsenal in fourth, as they chase an invaluable place in the Champions League for next season.
And while Klopp admitted no decisions have been made regarding specific targets, he is keen to add to his options in the off-season.
He said: “Not a lot of decisions have been already made at this point. Why should they at this stage?

“But we are on the way. At the end I’m sure we will have a really good squad. We already have a good squad and a few more good players will make it even better. There’s a good base.
“Of course, if we are in the Champions League then it would have an influence. We would need a deeper squad and you have to be prepared for that. No question.
“Even with the league this season, we could have needed a deeper squad with the injuries we had.
“But we’re through that now. We will adapt our plans to the number of tournaments we play next year.”
