Everton’s Lukaku disappointed despite record
Romelu Lukaku’s may have bagged a record-breaking 61st Premier League goal for Everton on Sunday, but the Belgian admitted he was gutted it didn’t arrive in a winning cause.
Harry Kane’s double and a 92nd-minute goal from Dele Alli ensured Spurs left with all three points, but it was a notable day for Lukaku as he surpassed Duncan Ferguson’s Everton top-flight record.
Though he conceded that a Toffees victory would have topped the day, he remained confident in his own ability to push on for even more goals.
“I think I have a lot of qualities and I believe in my ability,” Lukaku said.

“I’ve worked hard to achieve what I have now. I’m happy with the goal – it was a good pass from Kevin [Mirallas] and the rest I did for myself.
“We’re really disappointed. We came here to have a good result but we made mistakes and they were 2-0 up.
“Then at the end when we switched tactics and put more offensive players on, I think we had more possession of the ball, created more chances and then we came back.
“But then at the end it was disappointing to concede the third goal because if you look back at the three goals that they scored, they were goals that we gave them, instead of them creating the goals.
“To be fair we fought back at the end of the game but to lose 3-2 is disappointing.”
